The new iPhone 3G S is out and the lines were shorter than they were last year when the iPhone 3G was released. This can easily be attributed to the fact that the new iPhone doesn’t really offer much more than the previous iPhone model in regards to features. Also, with the heated competition out there from Palm, LG and Blackberry, I think a lot of people expected at least a new updated look. We’ve become accustomed to Apple’s tendency to reinvent their products with new looks, colors, etc. Anyone remember the iBook Clamshell?
Although the new iPhone 3G S is a less compelling upgrade for 3G users, we can’t ignore the fact that there is that compulsion in many of us to have the latest and greatest electronic device. And the new iPhone 3G S is that device. It’s the latest, hottest thing out there (at least until 4G speeds are available on cell phones). So, for those of you out there who are determined to ride the iPhone 3G S wave, especially at the somewhat reasonable $199 price tag, we’re providing a link to an article that explains (as best as can be explained) the cost of purchasing the 3G S. The article does a good job explaining the difference in price for those who currently do not use AT&T now, for those who purchased an iPhone in 2008 and for those iPhone users who use AT&T’s EDGE network.
After taking a look at the true cost to own a new iPhone 3G S, I’m sure many people will decide that they are perfectly content with their iPhone 2G or 3G S. And a handful of those might even be willing to hold off on purchasing a new cell phone altogether until a 4G iPhone is released.
